Highland produce, shipped fresh to our partners

We work with smallholder cooperatives on the slopes of the Aberdares to grow bananas, avocados and dairy milk, then handle the cold chain, paperwork and shipping that get them into EU markets in good condition.

What we grow and ship

Three staples from the same highland farms, each handled to the cold-chain standard for our buyers expect.

Bananas

Musa acuminata — Cavendish & Gros Michel

Hand-cut at export maturity from cooperative plots between 1,700–2,200m, then ripened under controlled conditions to arrive green and firm.

Harvested year-round · peak volume March–July

Avocados

Persea americana — Hass & Fuerte

Grown under agroforestry with coffee and macadamia. Sized and dry-matter tested before packing so fruit ripens evenly after the sea voyage.

Two flushes a year · main crop March–September

Milk

Whole cow's milk — UHT & chilled

Sourced from smallholder dairy herds and cooled within two hours of milking. UHT lines travel ambient; chilled lines move under the same reefer chain as the fruit.

Steady supply all year · no seasonal gap

A cooperative of highland farms, not a plantation

Nyandurua Farmers in Europe was started by growers around Nyandarua County who wanted a direct route into EU markets instead of selling through several layers of local brokers. We now aggregate produce from more than 340 smallholder plots, run our own pack-house and handle export compliance in-house.

Every farm in the network is mapped, and every lot we ship can be traced back to the plots it came from — which is also what EU due-diligence rules on imported food now expect.

"We used to lose a third of our avocado income to middlemen at the farm gate. Shipping through the cooperative, we're paid on the export price." — Wanjiru Kamau, avocado grower, Ol Kalou
